- Preston, Hedley Marshall – Passed peacefully away at Pleasant View Towers on Saturday, February 18, 2017, at age 82. Predeceased by his parents: John Sophie Preston; brothers: Percy (Ann), and Corbett (Florence); sister: Ivy Kane; brothers-in-law: Avalon Sturge, and William Sturge; sisters-in-law: Rosalie Evely (Damond), and Lillian Rowe; mother father-in-law: Ella Gilbert Somers. Leaving to mourn his loving wife Shirley of 56 years; children: Elaine (Gary Bartlett), Glenn (Roxanne), Beverley (Austin Critch), David (Debbie), Brian (Young-Hee Kim), and Heather; grandchildren: Neil Lucy Bartlett; Andrew Michael Preston, Joshua Kyle Bennett, Thomas Ethan Preston, Sean Preston, and Gilbert Emma Parsons; sisters: Minnie Adelaide Sturge; brothers-in-law Eli Kane and John Rowe; also a large circle of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Special thanks to Dr. Essaji and the staffs of 1 SE and 4 NW of Pleasantview Towers for their loving care. Visitation will be held at Barrett’s Funeral Home, 73 Commonwealth Avenue, Mount Pearl, on Sunday, February 19th, from 7:00pm-9:00pm; and on Monday, February 20th, from 2:00pm-4:00pm, and from 7:00pm-9:00pm. Memorial service to be held at the Parish of the Ascension, Smallwood Drive, on Tuesday, February 21st, at 2:00pm. Interment to follow at the Anglican Cemetery, Kenmount Road.
