- Johannesen, Jacqueline Dawn (Wareham), age 52, of St. Petersburg, Florida, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer. Predeceased by her father David Wareham. She was the beloved wife of Michael Arthur Johannesen. She is survived by her three daughters: Lyndsey, 25, Melissa, 24, and Emily, 21. Jackie was born in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada on November 9th, 1963 and grew up there. She is survived by her mother Phyllis, and her five siblings: Joanne [Bob Kane], Terry Wareham, Jeanette [Bill Norris], Pamela [Don Forbes], Paula [Jeff Byron], plus a large circle of relatives and friends. After graduating High School, Jackie went on to attend Grace Hospital School of Nursing, subsequently she was recruited and moved to Florida in the United States. She fell in love with the Florida weather and after meeting her husband, decided to stay in the Tampa Bay Area. Jackie spent most of her career as a nurse at All Children's hospital in the Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit helping rehabilitate babies after open heart surgery. She studied to obtain her Master's in Healthcare Administration at St Francis University and moved into Quality Management at All Children's Hospital. She focused on making changes to create a better environment in the hospital for staff and patients. She was always an involved mother and spent many weekends at soccer tournaments, ballet recitals and school plays. She enjoyed making home cooked meals when her girls came back from college and liked to catch up on the latest news over a glass of wine. She was an incredible caregiver to her loving family. Jackie enjoyed sunsets and loved Pass-a-Grill beach. She loved spending time with her three daughters and husband. She was a warm and sweet soul, while being incredibly committed to a challenging career. Always finding ways to give back and help others, she was truly a principled person that lived a life of dignity and grace. She was without enemies yet spoke her mind. She enjoyed being in nature and looked forward to nights out in the lively downtown St. Pete area. She will be deeply missed by her family and friends, but the impact she made on those who loved her will not be forgotten. To know her was to love her. To honor Jackie’s wishes, her family has set up a trust fund for Canadian residents and a GoFundMe account for United States residents to raise funds for a memorial bench in Bowring Park located in St. John’s, Newfoundland, Canada. This would allow us to honor Jackie’s wishes of having a memorial bench for her friends and family to visit, located in a park she spent many of her days while growing up. Bowring Park was Jackie’s family’s backyard. In her youth, she and siblings would swim there during summer vacation and would get soft-serve ice cream. During her teenage years, Bowring Park became an essential hangout location for her group of friends. She occasionally would get in some trouble and always blamed it on the Park, never herself. During every trip home to Newfoundland, she made sure that there would be a visit to the park and held importance in instilling her memories and love for Bowring Park on her children and husband.
