- It is with great sadness that the family of the late Ivan Alexander Ellsworth announce his passing at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital’s Intensive Care Unit on January 25, 2023, at the age of 72 years.
He leaves to mourn with fond and loving memories his wife of 40 years Debbie, his sisters Fern Mason, Anna (Churchill) Pittman, Regina Park, brothers Ralph (Olive) Ellsworth, Alfred (Lorraine) Ellsworth, sister-in-law: Judy (Chris) Young, and brother-in-law Glenn (Joan) Luther, and a large circle of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
Ivan is predeceased by his parents Arthur and Mariah Ellsworth, his sister Alma (Jerry) Brake, brothers Ashley (Elizabeth) and Aubrey (Mabel) Ellsworth, John Mason, Wallace Park, and parents-in-law John and Lillian Luther.
Ivan was a devoted and loving husband to Debbie. After graduating from Memorial University, he spent his career as a dedicated teacher in Charlottetown, Labrador and at Templeton Collegiate in Gillams. He loved the outdoors, especially spending time at his cabin in Howley. He loved telling stories about his hunting and fishing experiences. Ivan was loved by many and will be forever missed by his family and friends.
Ivan’s family would like to thank the nurses and staff at St. Clare’s Mercy Hospital Intensive Care Unit including the team of doctors, and especially, Dr. Heneghan and Dr. Smith for their kindness and professionalism.
Cremation has taken place. There will be a visitation held on Friday, February 10th, 2023 at Country Haven Funeral Home from the hours of 7-9 PM from where the funeral service will take place at 2 PM on February 11th, 2023 in the Country Haven Chapel with Rev. Mickton officiating. Interment to take place at Mount Patricia Cemetery. As expressions of sympathy, memorial donations may be made to the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Care Foundation, the MS Society of Canada, or a charity of your own choice.
