- Passed away on Sunday, January 10, 2021 at the Lakeside Home, Gander, NL, Mr. Lloyd Scott Bennett, aged 83 years.
Lloyd was born October 6, 1937 in Port Albert, NL to Joseph and Hallie Bennett (Pinsent). He was a very hard worker all of his life – he owned and operated a taxi service in Stephenville for about 20 years, he also fished for cod, lobster, salmon and crab until his retirement in 1998. On February 10, 1973 he married Mazie West of Horwood and together they had two daughters. They both enjoyed the outdoors and after his retirement they spent a lot of time boating, ski-dooing, berry picking, and cutting wood with the occasional boil-up to add to their pleasure of the great outdoors. He loved music and dancing.
He leaves to mourn wife, Mazie; daughter, Christine (Christopher Harbin); grandchildren, Christine Normore, Ella & Emily Harbin; great-grandchildren, Joseph Hamel & Bennett Jacobson; one brother, Donald Bennett. Also nephew, nieces, brothers and sisters-in-law & a large circle of family and friends.
He was predeceased by an infant daughter and Pauline Bennett; parents, Joseph and Hallie Bennett; parents-in-law, James and Sylvia West; sisters-in-law, Mildred Bennett and Audrey Pelley.
The public visitation took place from Gordon Woolfrey Funeral Home, 262 Main Street, Lewisporte, NL on Monday, January 11, 2021 from 2-4 PM following COVID-19 government regulations.
The funeral service took place from the United Church, Port Albert, NL on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at 11 AM for invited guests only. The interment followed at the United Church Cemetery, Port Albert, NL.
