- Donald Frank Gifford
May 10, 1938 – June 2, 2023
It is with heavy hearts we announce his peaceful passing in the arms of his family at the Selkirk Regional Health Centre.
Lovingly remembered by his wife Linda; son Allen (Cyndi), Brady and Dayne; step son Lee (Suzanne), Lee's daughters, Leeanna and Amanda; brother Fred Gifford; uncle John Gifford.
He was predeceased by parents Fred and Marge Gifford; sister Marge Smith and son Robert in infancy.
Don's passion was Judo. He was inducted into the Judo Manitoba Hall of fame May 31, 2019. Ranked as San Dan, national referee, he started and coached The Selkirk Judo Club for over 55 years. He produced numerous Black Belts including Brian Jones, Curtis McRae, Niki Adams (Jenkins) (Olympian), and William MC Kenzie. For his dedication he was awarded the Triple S Lifetime achievement award Feb. 2009, Silvio Sboto award for coaching excellence 2005, Lloyd Davies Award for outstanding voluntary contribution to youth programs in Selkirk in 1999.

Don had a love for horses. I know he is riding a good one.
A million tears could not keep you here, I know because I cried. I’ll be seeing you in all the old familiar places. Thank you for the 42 great years. Love Linda
Cremation has taken place and per Don’s wishes there will be no funeral.
