Bill accomplished so much during his life: Auto Mechanic, Head of Auto Mechanics at Danforth Collegiate and Technical Institute, University Professor at University of Toronto and an excellent Musician. Bill was a Mason for many years and Member of Remembrance Lodge No. 586 AFAM, where his skill on the Trumpet was appreciated at annual Remembrance Day observances. Born in Sydney, he was a son of the late Alex Pius and Elizabeth (Kirby) McDougall. Leo was a Navy Veteran of the Second World War serving aboard H.M.C.S. Sarnia and H.M.C.S. Esquimalt escorting supply ships to Europe. He was a member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 43, in Port Hawkesbury and was also a former volunteer firefighter. He was a former member of CEP Local 972. Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Agnes (Kennedy); daughter, Diane (Glenn) Lewis; sons, Ronald (Pauline), Brian (MaryAnn), Steven (Elizabeth); sisters, Maddie, Theresa and Flory; grandchildren, Richard, Scott, Ashley, Dawn, Chris (Karen), Elliott (Geeta), Shaun, Danielle (Curtis), Brian, Brendan, John (Stacey), Nancy, Eric (Hailey); great-grandchildren, Austin Lewis, Summer Lewis, Shiva Lewis, Coralie MacDougall. She will be sadly missed by her five children, Lydia (Larry OQuinn) Corner Brook, Alan (Imelda), Truro, NS, Wade (Geraldine) and Leroy, all of Gillams and Gary (Janet) Airdrie, AB, ten grandchildren: Penny, Peter, Jamie, Jason, Amanda, Arlene, Adrian, Crystal, Zachery and Matthew, six great grandchildren, Melanie, Megan, Erin, Noah, Matthew and Mackenzie. Special niece Helen Park and numerous nieces and nephews, friend John Doman, her sister-in-law Emma (Eric Lovell), brothers-in-law Dave and Cora George, Foster and Pauline George, Raymond and Mildred George, friends and staff at Mountain View House. She was predeceased by Ronald, father of her children, her infant daughter Brenda, parents John and Jane Blanchard, mother and father-in-law Jenny and Silas George, daughter-in-law Gael George, four brothers Ralph, Arthur, Clayton and Stewart, two sisters, Edith Brake and Lida Gillam. Nonia was a Mom, Mother, Grandmother, Nan and Aunt, a great provider, a friend you could call on if you needed a lending hand. She was a Jack of all trades that describes our Mom. Mom was very active in her Community, loved a good game of cards with the Seniors Club and spent her pastime knitting for her children and grandchildren. The echoes of her feet still lives on in the dance halls from Barachois Brook to the North Shore. Visitation will take place Monday from 2-4 and 7-9, Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.at St. James Anglican Church in Gillams. Funeral service will be held on Tuesday, June 25th at 2:00 p.m. from the Anglican Church with Reverend Malcolm Palmer officiating followed by Interment at Mt. Patricia cemetery. A woman ahead of her time, Tease was a nurse, a teacher, an entrepreneur, and a prolific volunteer. She was a loyal friend, nurturing relationships for decades, and was steadfastly devoted to her children and her family. A proud Newfoundlander, the time Tease spent as a public health nurse in the outports of Newfoundland profoundly shaped the rest of her life and left her fearless and determined. Tease was predeceased by her parents, William and Sarah Kirby, her brothers, Hank and Bill Kirby, her brothers-in-law Donald McKinley and Jimmy Sheridan, her sister-in-law Till Kirby, her ex-husband, Michael Brennan, and her granddaughter Mary Bee. Tease will be sorely missed by her sisters, Regina (Walter) Andrews, Carol (John) Burke, Lucy McKinley, and Margie Sheridan, her sister-in-law Gail Kirby, her children, Dawn, Nonie (Michael Peirce), and Keith Brennan, her grandchildren, Jocelyn and Andrea Peirce, her beloved nieces and nephews, and many dear friends. Her family would like to thank Tease's doctors at the Victoria Family Medical Centre, and the outstanding staff at Parkwood's Palliative Care Unit.
