"The Whiteway Family of Musgrave Harbour" written in 1983 by R.W. Guy, reports that Mark and Elizabeth raised one of her nephews, Martin West of Ladle Cove. This was likely Joseph's son, born 1866.

Are Elizabeth and Eliza the same person? There are no further records of Eliza after her baptism and no record of Elizabeth's birth but there is a marriage record for her. The vital statistics records are transcribed copies made in the 1940s from parish records. It's entirely possible there was an error in transcription or even in the original records as Eliza and Elizabeth were occasionally used interchangeably or by mistake.

Elizabeth married Mark Whiteway on 13 Nov 1866 in Fogo, Newfoundland. Mark (son of John Whiteway and Margaret Riems) was born on 24 Aug 1844 in Muddy Hole, Musgrave Harbour, Newfoundland; was christened on 11 May 1845 in Blackhead, Bay de Verde, Newfoundland; died on 16 Jan 1898 in Musgrave Harbour, Newfoundland; was buried in Musgrave Cemetery, Musgrave Harbour, Newfoundland.
