| Notes |
- Things about Ralph:
At 12 years old, he went to Millertown, Newfoundland, to work in the woods cutting trees for the pulp and paper mill in Grand Falls. The work was from September/October to March. He was hired on reluctantly due to his age but worked hard among all the men and earned $21.00 for the season. He celebrated his 13th birthday in the woods.
